Preventing Commercial Grease Fires
12/16/2020 (Permalink)
There are a variety of different ways that a grease fire can start in a commercial kitchen. A mixture of flammable items and a chaotic environment is a recipe for a fire eventually. Luckily, there are safety precautions that you can take to prevent a kitchen fire.
Always make sure that you keep everything clean. Most kitchen fires begin when flammable cooking material such as oil or grease are ignited. It is also important to make sure that deep fryers and hood filters are properly maintained. Although having a clean kitchen doesn't make it completely fireproof, it highly decreases the likelihood of experiencing a fire.
Make sure you have proper safety equipment on-site. This includes having up-to-date fire extinguishers as well as investing in a fire suppression system. The fire suppression system will dispense chemicals immediately to combat a fire, helping to prevent the spread.
Be sure that kitchen staff have training on how to prevent fires as well as procedures for if one does occur. Think about fire prevention as an investment.
